I came up in a Religious family. My father was a Deacon in the church so I always heard them talking about the Bible. Sunday mornings we were at church. Sunday afternoons we were at church, and also Sunday night.
As I got older I began to understand what it was all about, after reading the Bible and being taught about Jesus.
My mother was a great Christian. She would give away food that we could eat. I just didn't understand. When she would give away clothing that we could wear, we tried to understand.
Then one day she sat us down and taught us, no mater how bad we were doing, there was someone doing worse. Her famous words were, "the Lord will provide".
Back in the days when I was growing up, they would have a Revival. If you were twelve years old and wanted to give Christ your life, your parents would take you to church and all candidates would sit on the front seat, or the mourners' bench.
The Pastor would preach a sermon and after the sermon, if you felt the spirit had touched you and you were ready to give Christ your life, you would get up and give the Pastor your hand. At one particular Revival, I did that, and that was the day I found Christ.
As I grew older and understood more about the Bible I realized what my Mother was trying to teach us, that it was all about Jesus.
How He helped people, how He fed people and He did not only come on Sundays. He is with us everyday. When I look at the world today, individuals loosing jobs, loosing homes, I can still hear the words of my Mother, ringing in my ear, "the Lord will provide."
Since I met Christ, He has made me knew.
Having Christ in my life has taught me how to care for others, respect others, and teach them all about the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you know Him today?
