He Is Always There For Me!

Before accepting Jesus as my Savior, I lived with my parents in rural Oklahoma where my dad owned and operated a sawmill. When I was about six years old and had finished the first grade in a country school, my father decided to move our family into town, about 25 miles from the mill. He moved us to town so I could go to public school in the city and we could attend Sunday School and Church. My parents and a lot of my relatives were Christians as I was growing up, but we had lived so far from a regular church that it was not possible to attend.

When we moved into town my family started going to Church and Sunday School on a regular basis. My dad took me to church regularly, so I knew who Jesus was.

One Easter, when I was twelve years old, I felt I needed to make a choice to follow Christ. I went down to the front of the church and asked to be baptized and to join the church.

Some of my Sunday School teachers in the church had been talking to me about becoming a Christian, so I was fully aware of what I was doing when I went forward that Easter morning. One of my former teachers was at that time teaching the 4 and 5-year-old class. She asked if I would be willing to help her with her class. As I look back, this was the first fruit that came from my salvation...a desire to serve the Lord.

I find my relationship with the Lord is very freeing. I am free to commit my cares and troubles to Him and free to grow in my Christian walk. I know He is always there for me and loves me, no matter the circumstance of life. It is my goal to live everyday, growing closer to the Father and doing His will. I can't imagine trying to live a life without Jesus.
